WORN

I heard this song on the radio a couple of days ago and from the first note it had my attention.
It so accurately describes my struggle.
It is not always a daily struggle,
but it is a struggle I face often.
I need to know that redemption wins.

Intellectually,
I know it does,
but knowing it and living it are two different things.
Somedays everything feels hard.
Everything outside of the safety of my blankets pulled tight around me feels threatening.
I feel as if who I am
is swallowed up by all the things that need to be done,
that could happen,
that should happen,
that might not happen.

My insides are a mix of the past,
the present,
and the future,
all swirling together in a blender of trepidation and hopelessness.
So many things can happen and go wrong,
this world is a scary place.
I wouldn't say that I focus on those things,
but they are always there in the back of my mind,
because I have to be prepared for it.
I can't let anything surprise me or hit me out of left field.
I need to be "ready".
That need for readiness leaves me

Lyrics:
I'm tired, I'm worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I've made mistakes
I've let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world
And I know that You can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That You can mend a heart that's frail and torn

I'm tired, I'm worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I've made mistakes
I've let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world
And I know that You can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That You can mend a heart that's frail and torn

I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that's dead inside can be reborn
‘Cause I'm worn

I know I need
To lift my eyes up
But I'm too weak
Life just won't let up
And I know that You can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That You can mend a heart that's frail and torn

I'm tired, I'm worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I've made mistakes
I've let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world
And I know that You can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

I'm worn
Even before the day begins
I'm worn
I've lost my will to fight
I'm worn
So Heaven come and flood my eyes

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That You can mend a heart that's frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that's dead inside can be reborn
‘Cause I'm worn

Yes, all that's dead inside will be reborn
Though, I'm worn
I'm worn

  1. Karmen,Can I just tell you how much I get this? The walls pressing in. Feeling everything is so hard? I know that. And I am standing with you because I know there is redemption. And there are days I wonder as well, but knowing there are others thinking, wondering the same thing somehow awakens my spirit and allows me to say, "See it?! Do you see it there?! Our redemption is right around the corner!!!"

    Standing with you today.

  2. Thank you Brenna. I always find that hearing that someone else is struggling helps me see past the struggle, because I want to make it better for them. =) Yup redemption is there, around the corner. Sometimes rounding that corner takes a REALLY long time. =)

  3. Karmen,
Yes, we need to know that redemption wins b/c that is the very heart beat of hope...that believing, despite the fact that our circumstances might be contradicting that truth. That song is so honest and open, which becomes a prayer and hands us over to the God who can break through and enter in.
Here's praying that today you can believe that redemption wins.

    1. Holly that is it exactly. This song in many ways has become a prayer for me. Thanks for your prayers and for reading.

  4. We're sharing the same prayers, I see, friend. You've been around my blog enough to see how much I share these same feelings, same worn-ness, same need to see redemption win, that the struggle will end. And maybe because it's easier to believe it for someone else than it is for ourselves, maybe we can believe it for each other? Praying for you, today, and sending love.

    1. Thank you Amber. It is so much easier to believe it for someone else. So Yes, I believe it for you too.
